So as I’m sure you have already read, Digg.com has launched a bunch of new features.

There is a redesign. They are going with the fluid layout which is kinda groovy. They have the navigation across the top.

The kids at the Digg team are finally jumping on the Web standards bandwagon. Hooray! Digg.com validates to W3C XHTML 1.0 Transitional. This will do a lot of good for being an example to web developers about the importance of standards development.

They feature videos using this light box feature. It’s pretty cool.

Speaking of videos…it now has its own really high level section next to news. I like this. If digg is good for anything, its sifting through the soooo many videos that are on YouTube. If I ever have the time to waste time by watching videos on YouTube, I will go to Digg to figure out which ones I should watch.

They also have a podcasts section. Users can digg a specific podcast or they can digg a specific episode within that podcast. It is cool for users. I want to figure out what the good podcasts are that I need to pay attention to. This seems like it will help. I can also see it giving good feedback to podcasters about which shows are resounding with their users. This section is in beta so only registered users can digg in it. This has caused a low usage so far.

If you want a good overview of the new Digg features, check out Michael Arrington’s episode of TalkCrunch with Digg founder Kevin Rose, CEO Jay Adelson and VP Marketing Mike Maser. It’s pretty good.

This is all really interesting. I’m going to give Digg.com another shot and see if I can see what Kevin Rose sees.
