Can Amazon.com Get Into The Online Storage Business?
I just read on TechCrunch that Amazon.com is launching their own online storage service. It is called S3, Simple Storage Service.
It doesn’t seem like it is a service that is aimed at consumers. They are trying to go after developers and businesses to use this to develop solutions. Which is interesting…it doesn’t get me too excited, not yet at least.
It is interesting that the company that really revolutionized e-commerce is making such a jump towards other kinds of web services. What is the long term plan? What is the roadmap?
I am more excited by Google’s rumored GDrive. That more affects me directly as a consumer of technology and the web. Plus I think GDrive is supposed to be free.
