Supreme Court and George W. Bush and Samuel A. Alito31 Oct 2005 08:29 am

President George W. Bush is set to at 8am announce his pick for the Supreme Court of the United States. People are saying that it will most likely be Judge Samuel A. Alito Jr.

It is being said that Judge Alito is being compared to the likes of Anthony Scalia. They are saying that Alito is someone that is going to win back Bush’s conservative base.

I will be truely comfortable with this pick when I see what the esteemed Senator from New York, Chucky Schumer, has to say about Judge Alito. If Schumer is enraged that Bush has appointed a conservative idealogue to the Supreme Court, then we have a winning nominee.

I said farewell to my beard today.

Video Snapshot 1

I am not sure if it will be back anytime soon. We’ll see. I may decide to leave it off.

Opera Browser24 Oct 2005 02:44 pm

I was thrilled to hear about today that the web browser Opera version 9.0 will use command T (mac) or control T (Windows) to create a new tab instead of command N (Mac) or control T (Windows) as it does now in Opera 8.0. It is going to match the functionality of Mozilla Firefox. This bugged me more then anything about Opera. I got so used to doing it the Firefox way, having to command N to create a new tab was completely foreign to me.

Opera 9.0 is only currently in beta but should be out soon.

Politics and Howard Dean24 Oct 2005 09:59 am

Howard Dean is at it again. At a recent Democratic fundraiser Dean said,

“I’m tired of the ayatollahs of the right wing. We’re fighting for freedom in Iraq. We’re going to fight for freedom in America.”

He must think that dropping slanderous sound bites equals leading the Democratic Party. He just doesn’t get it. Where is there agenda? What kind of policies do they support? What are they offering as alternatives to the President’s plans?

Maybe instead of putting the attack squad on the evening news, they should put the people on that are going to explain to America the direction that they want to take things.

Until then, Republicans are going to control EVERYTHING. As long as Dingy Harry Reid is controlling the Senate Minority and Nancy “the witch” Pelosi is controlling the House Minority, I don’t see this changing any time soon. Being in the US Government is serious politics, it’s not 4th grade kickball. Democrats, if you wanna play with the big boys you have to act like it.

Macromedia and Flash and Action Script23 Oct 2005 10:26 pm

This last week in Client Side Programming we learned how to drag and drop things around the screen in Macromedia Flash. Then we learned how to check drop collisions, so you can see if you dropped something on the right spot.

I wrote this example - Dragging Smilies.

Macromedia and Flash and Action Script23 Oct 2005 10:23 pm

In my Client Side Programming class, we have just started to learn action scripting in Macromedia Flash. It is going to be a pretty intense next three weeks. We are going to go from knowing nothing about Flash to object-oriented action scripting. It will be both nuts and sweet at the same time. I like being stretched.

While I am learning Flash and Action Scripting, I am going to try and make my own little things with what I have learned from class, in order to practice. I will post my action script examples here to my blog.

Apple Computers and iPod22 Oct 2005 12:45 pm

I have been totally impressed with what I have read about Apple’s new product line that they are pushing out for the holiday season, especially the fifth generation video iPod.

I have had my iPod mini for about 10 months and have totally enjoyed it and gotten soooooooo much use of it. I would contemplate grabbing the video iPod as an upgrade. I have had a few friends that have said they would be interested in buying my iPod mini. I would be able to use the iPod video as file storage, to backup my hard drive.

There are some really good reviews of the video iPod at:

My really good friend Louis and I are going to make a trip to the local Apple Store today and then go grab a beer. I will have some good first hand knowledge of the new video iPod after today. Maybe i’ll get a few photos of it as well.

Meta21 Oct 2005 03:29 pm

The web hosting company that I use, Corecomm, had their servers go down for most of the day today; if some of you were wondering why you couldn’t get to my blog.

I have noticed that GoDaddy.com has announced some really cheap deals for hosting. I might switch over to there eventually. I wonder if UndercoverGeek.com is a taken domain name. Diggnation and CommandN have been announcing extra discounts off of GoDaddy.com if you watch their videocasts.
