Short-term mission teams from churches throughout the United States fan out throughout the world all year long. Name a country on any continent and you’ll probably find a team sent by a local church.
The effort to plan and implement such a trip is monumental. Financial support has to be raised, mission goals have to be detailed and team members need to be pulled together.
Then when overseas, there’s the folks backhome wondering about their family members and friends and what they are doing.
Blogs can be a big step towards filling that need.
I found that when I blogged during my mission trip to the West African country of Mali last year. Finding a working Internet connect wasn’t always doable. But back home my church family and others anxiously read my posts everyday about my activities and impressions.
My Mali blog received more than 5,000 page views during that time.
What a great way to keep the folks back home informed and to make them feel part of the short-term mission team.
